BHI, a proud subcontractor for the Green River Energy Center project, is honored to announce its role in supporting the $375,000 scholarship fund established to benefit students in Emery and Carbon Counties. The scholarships—Local First and Energy First—are designed to enhance educational and career opportunities while strengthening the local workforce in these regions.
The Green River Energy Center, an 800-megawatt solar and battery storage project in eastern Utah, is a collaborative effort led by rPlus Energies in partnership with Sundt Construction and supported by dedicated contributors, including BHI. This scholarship initiative aligns with BHI’s commitment to building stronger communities through education and opportunity.
“Being part of this transformative project alongside rPlus Energies, Sundt and many others has been an honor,” said Erik Haslem, CEO of BHI. “At BHI, we believe in empowering the communities where we work, and contributing to these scholarships allows us to support the next generation of skilled workers and community leaders. This partnership exemplifies the positive impact we can achieve together.”
The Local First Scholarship supports students from Emery and Carbon Counties who plan to remain in the area after completing their education at Utah State University Eastern (USUE). The Energy First Scholarship focuses on students pursuing energy-related fields, offering opportunities in programs such as Welding, Wildlife Ecology, Electrician Certification, and Heavy Machinery Operations.
BHI extends its gratitude to rPlus Energies, Sundt Construction, and all project partners for their leadership in this initiative, which will leave a lasting legacy for students and families in Emery and Carbon Counties.
